Compound Die Metal Stamping

The Process

Speed is the major benefit of compound metal stamping to produce simple flat parts.

With this metal stamping process, a strip of metal is fed through the die and multiple cuts, bends, etc., can be made in one press stroke. This process is perfect for medium to high production runs.

Compound Die Blanking and the Parts It Produces

Blanking, piercing and shallow forming happen simultaneously in a compound die, which holds flatness better than a progressive die and produces washers, plates, covers, shims and mounting brackets at speed. Compound tooling is also faster and less expensive to build than progressive tooling, which makes it the economical route for a simple part at medium to high volume.
